CT-Value (△HU and CT-Value ratioin) differential diagnosis of small hepatocellular carcinoma from focal nodular hyperplasia
نویسندگان
چکیده مقاله:
Background: The objective was to explore the value of the CT value difference (△HU) and CT value ratio (CVR) between the hepatic arterial (AP), portal (PP), and delayed phases (DP) to differentiate the small Hepatocellular Carcinoma (SHCC, ≤ 3 cm) from the small Focal nodular hyperplasia (SFNH, ≤ 3 cm). Materials and Methods: All the lesions were confirmed by clinically and/or pathologically and all the patients underwent triple-phase enhanced CT scans. The lesions’ CT values (LCV) and the surrounding normal liver parenchyma (NCV) of the enhancement phases were measured separately, the △HU and CVR were calculated. Results: The median age and the male/female ratios of the SHCC and SFNH have statistically significant, and the size haven’t statistically significant. The △HU and CVR of the AP, PP, and DP of the SHCCs and SFNHs were statistically significant, respectively. The area under curve of △HU and CVR of AP, PP and DP were increased gradually. When the △HU and CVR of the AP, PP and DP were 105.800HU vs. 1.516, -12.600HU vs. 0.949, -19.750 HU vs. 0.951, obtained the maximum You-den indexes. The corresponding sensitivity and specificity were 80.6 % and 90.1 % vs. 88.90% and 72.1%, 100% and 81.1% vs. 100% and 81.1%, 94.4 % and 96.4% vs. 94.4 % and 96.4%, respectively. Conclusion: The SHCC was highly suggested when △HU and CVR are no greater than 105.800HU and 1.516, -12.600HU and 0.949, -19.750 HU and 0.951 of the AP, PP, and DP in the middle-aged and elderly male patients, especially in the DP.

Confluent focal nodular hyperplasia mimicking liver cancer: value of liver-specific contrast-enhanced MRI for diagnosis.
Focal nodular hyperplasia is the second most common benign hepatic tumor. Unlike adenoma as well as the malignant neoplasms, focal nodular hyperplasia can often be managed successfully without surgery. Use of liver-specific contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging allows clinicians to confirm the diagnosis noninvasively in some patients, allowing select patients to avoid surgery. We report ...
متن کاملIncremental diagnostic value of F-18 FDG PET/CT over MRI in a pediatric patient with suspected hepatoblastoma and histologic diagnosis of focal nodular hyperplasia.
Hepatoblastoma (HB) is the most common pediatric liver cancer representing 1% of all pediatric malignances and occurring mostly within 5 years of age. Liver recurrences and secondary lesions (abdomen, lung, and brain) can occur. Surgery and chemotherapy are widely accepted. Focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH) is a benign, usually asymptomatic, and incidental hepatic tumor with an unclear etiology, ...
متن کاملMolecular pathogenesis of focal nodular hyperplasia and hepatocellular adenoma.
Focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH) and hepatocellular adenomas (HCAs) are benign tumors that occur in otherwise normal liver parenchyma. FNH is considered to be the result of a hyperplastic response to increased blood flow secondary to vascular malformations. Most FNH are polyclonal and to date, the molecular pathway and mechanisms that are altered in FNH have yet to be elucidated. In contrast, HC...

conclusions the findings of this study reveal that both arg-1 and gpc-3 are helpful ihc markers to separate hcc from cc and ma. furthermore, arg-1 shows 100% sensitivity and 82.6% specificity for the diagnosis of hcc whereas gpc-3 demonstrated 97.7% sensitivity and 91.3% specificity for the diagnosis of this tumor. results arginase-1 and gpc-3 demonstrated diffuse staining, as reactivity in > 9...

Objective: To determine if the hepatobiliary phase of gadoxetate disodium-enhanced hepatic MRI increases the sensitivity in differentiating focal nodular hyperplasia from hepatocellular adenomas. Design: Prospective analysis. Methods: This study was comprised of 52 patients (2 men, 50 women) with suspicion of hepatocellular adenomas or with focal nodular hyperplasia on a previous CT or conventi...
متن کاملImaging modalities for focal nodular hyperplasia and hepatocellular adenoma.
BACKGROUND/AIMS There are several imaging modalities available for the detection of focal liver lesions. Differentiation between focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH) and hepatocellular adenoma (HCA) is important because of the consequences for management. However, differentiation based on imaging alone still shows limitations. METHODS We reviewed the literature for typical features of FNH and HCA ...
